Plater-Moore Conference on Teaching and Learning

The Plater-Moore Conference on Teaching and Learning will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the IUPUI Campus Center. 

Building upon the legacy of the William M. Plater Institute on the Future of Learning and the Edward C. Moore Symposium, the inaugural Plater-Moore Conference seeks to accomplish the following goals:

  • Promote a culture of teaching and learning that values inclusion, collegiality/belonging, equity, and continuous improvement
  • Provide opportunities for educators to share best practices and innovative ideas for teaching and learning
  • Promote collaboration and/or interprofessional dialogue among educators from diverse departments and disciplines 
  • Provide opportunities for professional development and networking

This conference seeks to bring together educators from across IU who are committed to teaching excellence and innovative pedagogies that encourage student learning and success. 

Call for Proposals

Are you eager to share your innovative ideas, effective strategies, and success stories with fellow educators?  If so, then the stage is set for you to shine at the Plater-Moore Conference on Teaching and Learning, hosted by IUPUI’s Center for Teaching and Learning.

Join us as we bring together a community of educators from all IU campuses committed to creating inclusive, welcoming, and engaging learning environments that promote student success.

In this call for proposals, we invite you to share your stories of persistence, success, innovation, and evidence-based practices that exemplify the pursuit of teaching excellence.

About Edward C. Moore and William M. Plater

Edward C. Moore served as IUPUI’s Dean of the Faculties from 1973-1982. He was a prolific author and editor who was highly regarded by his IUPUI colleagues. William M. Platerserved IUPUI’s Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs from 1987-2006. He was committed to excellence in teaching and learning. The Plater-Moore Conference on Teaching and Learning seeks to honor the commitment of these outstanding educator-scholars to teaching and learning in Indiana and beyond. 

The conference is open to all IU faculty and instructional staff, regardless of appointment type. Professional staff who provide support for the teaching and learning mission (e.g., instructional designers, IT professionals) are also welcome to attend.
