Due to low enrollment and Quality Matters policies regarding workshop size, we must cancel this offering of the Applying the QM Rubric workshop. We will be offering additional sessions in the months ahead, including a session on April 25, 2014. Please check the CTL Events Calendar for the latest dates, times and locations.
The issue of what constitutes quality in online courses is often debated and is a focus of concern for faculty teaching online. One tool for understanding minimal standards for quality online courses is the Quality Matters (QM) rubric, a set of eight standards that sets expectations for courses related to course introduction, learning objectives, assessments, course materials, learner interactions, technology, student support, and accessibility. The rubric is utilized in the Quality Matters peer review process, by which an online course can be recognized as meeting the national QM standards. This session will provide an overview of the QM rubric through hands-on application, and guide participants through the essentials of the QM review process. This workshop is also the first step for faculty who are interested in becoming certified QM Peer Reviewers.
This workshop will be offered at IUPUI face-to-face from 9am until 4pm, with occasional breaks. Participants will have one hour for lunch, and are free to bring their own lunch or take advantage of the many options in the IUPUI Campus Center. To receive the QM certificate of completion for this workshop, participants must be present for and participate in the entire workshop.
