Rubrics provide a coherent set of criteria for evaluating student work and can streamline your grading process. When shared with students in advance of assignment deadlines, rubrics can clarify instructor’s expectations and lead to higher quality student submissions. During this face-to-face workshop participants will explore approaches to overcoming common challenges in developing rubrics, draft a rubric for an existing assignment, and learn how to embed rubrics in Canvas assignments.
This hands on workshop requires participants bring an assignment or two for which they are interested in developing a new rubric or revising an existing rubric. Participants will also learn how to manage rubrics in Canvas, including how to use the same rubric for grading in multiple sections. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own laptops so that they can embed and modify rubrics in a Canvas course.
