Video Storage and Sharing with Kaltura

Kaltura is a You Tube-like cloud-based video management system for storing, publishing, and streaming videos, video collections, and other media. The system integrates with Canvas, allowing faculty to upload and share multimedia content with ease. Most IU offered recording tools have an option to upload videos and voice-over presentations directly to Kaltura.

To access Kaltura in a Canvas course, go to the course Settings, select the Navigation tab, and activate either or both the Kaltura Media Gallery or Kaltura My Media. All IU students, faculty, and staff have full access to Kaltura.

The main uses of Kaltura include storing and managing instructor-created videos and storing student-created videos to be posted in a discussion, turned in as an assignment or turned in as an answer to a quiz question. Kaltura Mediaspace provides a space for departments to store and share videos separately from a Canvas class.
