Any graduate student who will graduate after December 2023, and who is currently in a teaching role or will have future teaching opportunities (as primary instructor, lab instructor, grader, classroom assistant, managing office hours and recitations, or giving guest lectures) can apply for the ESCIP. The online application system will open on Monday, October 10, and applications for the 2023 cohort will be accepted until 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. The application process requires interested graduate students to submit the following:
- an application form
- an up-to-date CV
- contact information for the graduate student's advisor
- a 400-500 word letter of interest describing
- why they are interested in the program
- what specific skills and knowledge they hope to gain
- what previous teaching experience they have (if not formal, then any informal experiences)
- how they teach (how they prepare, what activities they use, how they interact with learners, how they know if your teaching is effective)
- what opportunities they will have to teach during the program
- how their instructors have influenced what they think makes a good teacher
Note: applicants' graduate advisors will also be asked to provide a letter of recommendation or support. Advisors will be contacted once the application has been received. No application will be considered until the advisor's letter has been received.
CTL consultants will review the applications and admit a maximum of only ten new cohort members based on their likelihood to complete the program within the specified time frame (3 semesters) and their interest in a career in university teaching. Successful applicants will be notified no later than mid December.
