The Department of Biology in collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) offers the Postdoctoral Research and Teaching (PRT) program for its postdoctoral fellows. In addition to the traditional research experience, PRT fellows will engage in teaching and teaching-related professional development and contribute to the Biology curriculum development at IUPUI. The two-year training program is structured as follows to cater to fellows coming in with different levels of teaching experience and expertise. - Observe teaching by experienced faculty to identify a teaching mentor.
| - Get involved in the teaching mission of the department through different teaching opportunities.
| - Work with teaching mentor and the CTL to develop and deliver guest lectures in existing courses or develop and conduct a lab module.
| - Obtain formative teaching evaluations from CTL and peers for the guest lectures/lab sessions.

| - Work with teaching mentor and the CTL to develop and teach a 1 credit special topic course based on departmental requirements.
| - Obtain formative teaching evaluations from the CTL, peers, and teaching mentor.
| - Attend workshop on doing a teaching demostration at an interview.
