Edward C. Moore Symposium on Teaching Excellence

With Keynote Speaker Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics at Harvard University

This year the E.C. Moore Symposium brings the IUPUI campus community together to examine teaching excellence and instructional strategies employed in various disciplines to encourage student learning. What teaching strategies are IUPUI faculty employing? How can these learning opportunities be translated to other fields of study?

The 2010 program will include 50-minute breakout sessions and poster presentations and will explore these and similar questions:

· What successful teaching strategies are you employing to encourage student engagement in the classroom?

· How can a specific teaching pedagogy from your discipline be translated to other disciplines?

· What strategies are found to increase student learning and success?

· How have student perspectives, partnerships, input, or feedback been used to make courses more effective?

· How is instructional technology being successfully integrated in courses to enhance students’ learning experiences?

· How can we assess the impact of teaching on student learning?

· What are the future directions in university-level teaching?

Registering for Events

All CTL-sponsored events are free, and most are open to the entire campus and/or the public. All participants, however, are asked to register online in advance. We use the registration data to generate nametags and attendance sheets, as well as to ensure that we have sufficient materials, seating, and food (in the case of longer events). When you complete your registration, you will receive an immediate email confirmation. A follow-up reminder will be sent the day before the event occurs.
