Effective Online Chat

Your students already chat online to connect and communicate with their peers. Harnessing tools your students already use, such as online chat, to implement collaboration in your classroom is a great way to keep students interested.

Diversity and Learning at IUPUI

Diversity and Learning at IUPUIDiversity and Learning at IUPUI is a comprehensive and user-friendly online resource for faculty interested in issues of multicultural education. Funded through the Lumina Foundation for Education, the site now includes a new series of Multicultural Teaching Modules. In January 2005, IUPUI faculty were invited to submit modules for publication, and sixteen modules were accepted. Each module suggests tools for achieving at least one of the three desired outcomes: 1) obtaining a greater awareness of others, 2) teaching discipline content in a multicultural manner, or 3) specifically teaching about multicultural content. These modules feature easy-to-use “recipe cards” for implementing multicultural teaching strategies. Each module details preparation, material requirements, and step-by-step procedures for effectively implementing the given strategy. The newly designed site also links to the Multicultural Online Resource Guide, a dynamic schedule of campus events related to diversity, information on multicultural resources available in the CTL, and links to other campus units working on issues of diversity.
